Wiper motor replacement part

Hi all,

I have a problem with the wiper motor on my 914 2.0 from 1973.

The oem replacement part is 914.628.020.13 but a friend of mine offers me a 914.628.020.10 one that seems to be early wiper for 914-4 70-71.

Is replacement possible and what is the difference between these two motors ?

thanx

According to my book "914 Tech Tips 700" it says that the only difference in wiper motors is the 914-6 has a 3 speed motor and is not interchangeable with the 2 speed 914-4 model. However, it dosen't have model numbers listed.

All 914-4's have the same wiper "motor" but the wiper "switch" is different. Earlier models were dash mounted, later models were column mounted and some later 75 & 76 models had intermitent switches - but the actual wiper motors were the same.

I would guess that if the moters look similar and have the same wiring, then it's ok to use.

In the picture of my book, the 914-6 mot0r looks different and has a different bolt pattern for hooking up.

Actually, 72 and all later 914 cars had/have optional intermittant wipers.
