VW 412 engine same as 914?

I have found a wrecked '74 VW 412 that shows 7,000 miles and looks brand new. I s the engine the same as the 1.8 in my '75 914? I first thought to take the airflow, dist. etc. , but then thought to maybe pull the whole motor. The whole car looks like it is as year old. Strange. THanks eng. # starts as EC00......

You can probably find your answer here http://www.tunacan.net/t4/tech/case.htm . In U.S. 914s, the 1.8L motors had engine numbers beginning with "EC".

Seeing as I have a 1974 VW 412... The engine the same, does it have any good spare parts?

Thanks,

Kevin

Kevin it is a complete car in nice condition . Turns out it is not wrecked after all. Beautiful seats ,doors , rear fenders rear hatch etc. Engine will most likely be pulled by me. Pete
