VDO Gauge Questions
I recently took a VDO gauge from a VW Cabrio that is labeled "BAR" on its face. Does anyone know what the gauge is for. It is numbered 1 to 5 on the face. I also took a sender from the engine which had the same color wires on it as the gauge. Assuming it is the correct sensor, I tried to hook it up with no luck. (on the VW, the sensor screwed into the engine and has oil in it and two wires connected to it) Also, can someone explain the wiring of a electric VDO oil pressure gauge. I have no instructions with it. On the back of the gauge there is a + sign, a ground symbol, and a "S" symbol. Thanks

'Bar' is a unit of pressure (1 bar = 14.503 psi). So gauge should be for oil pressure. The + goes to 12V, S goes to the sender.

BAR essentially means one atmosphere of pressure.

Success with the gauge. Thanks guys. I thought both wires from the sender went directly to the gauge. I wasn't grounding the sender. Pete
