End of the racing season

After 5 T/T's and 10 A/X's my 2.1L is still running good but what should or can I look for other than a compression and leak-down test with out taking apart the engine?

Measure the crankshaft end-play. The trans must be removed, but that's it.

Also you can see what condition the lifters are in after removing the rockers and pushrod tubes.

There are several companies that anylize engine oil and can tell you what condition the bearings are in. Lower oil pressure also indicates bad bearings.

Oil consumption can indicate bad rings which a compresion test will confirm. Bad valve guide also blow oil out the tailpipe but there really isn't a test for that besides accelerating then coasting.

Read Tom Wilson's book, it has more about it.
