Oil filter relocation

I was wondering if any one could recommend an oil filter relocation unit for my 914?
Because of ‘Sandwich’ style oil cooler adapter, I don’t have much space left for my oil filter. Oil filter now is hitting engine mount.

I recommend attaching it to the transmission side of the vertical sheet metal separating the engine bay from the transmission near the #3 cylinder. This will require a spin-on adapter and oil lines run from the factory location. See Pete Dubler's tech article on installation of an external oil cooler on this site for more info.

Most of the sandwhich adapters should allow a spin on filter. If you are not using a Mahle or oem filter, the clearance problem can be fixed by dimpling the bottom of them filter....but I would go with the better filter. Fram or AC is OK for water pumpers, but not my Porsche.

I would also check to see if your engine mount bar is tweaked or the mounts are bad. Mine was, I replaced it and the filter fit with an 1/8inch to spare.

Only use S.S. braided line they will not burst instead they will just leak a small amount of oil letting you kwon that there is a problem.Go large diameter and short length to maximize flow. NEVER use a tube andfin cooler 3psi of pressure drop for each turn of the tubing.Always use a oil cooler that looks like a radiator.
