What ever you do, don't cut the trunk!!!

I have installed a CIS 3.0 into my 914 with out having to cut the trunk. Alot depends on which year CIS system you have. I have an 82 CIS system with a SS air box. The SS box alows the air boot to sit aprox 1" lower than stock. Also, I used a stock 2 hole air boot from Pelican. However, you will need to move the engine lid latch to the other side.

Wayne was able to install a early CIS system in his 914 w/o cutting the trunk.

Suggestions (depending on year)

1. Use a Rich Johnson bulkhead mount
2. Move the engine lid latch to other side
3. Use a SS air box
4. Use the Accumilator and Fuel filter bracket available from Pelican.
5. Assuming a RJ Bulkhead mount is used, mount the engine as far fwd as possible, but still leave a small gap btwn the 2 pieces.

Contact me if you have any other questions

Good luck w/the project!

And when you go for your 1st test drive, remember, it will take a while to get that silly grin off your face

Check out http://www.pelicanparts.com/catalog/shopcart/9144/por_9144_sixcon_main.htm

The Motor Mount that I recommend is the Rich Johnson one (PEL-9146-002)

Regarding the adj with the mount, there is a certain amount "play" that is allowed. So, you can mount the engine as far fwd as possible and the tranny will also be OK. This adj is less than an inch fwd to aft.

I hope this helps.
