Boot over the clutch cable bull wheel?

Did a boot over the clutch cable bull wheel assembly ever exist? I can't seem to find one in any schematic in the manual. But it seems like such a vulnerable part to leave open to the elements. All that grease on the cable picks up the damnedest things...

Not that I am aware of. I've never seen a 914 with any sort of cover over the entire bull wheel assembly. The only boot is the one that goes over the cable itself, but nothing to cover the entire bull wheel aasembly. It seems as if it wouldn't be too difficult to make a cover, I've just never given it any thought before.
