Upper Steering Column Bearing
I just received my new upper steering column bearing from PP. It is now clear that my old one was missing the white nylon insert. My question is, which way should the bearing be facing on installation, the white nylon insert facing out (towards the steering wheel), or in (towards the front trunk)?
Thanks, Don |

Don, I'm not sure if it makes any difference, but I installed the bearing with the white insert facing out towards the steering wheel.

Thanks Guy!
I was leaning that way but wasn't certain so thought I'd seek a second opinion. I didn't even realize there was a nylon insert since it was missing from my old bearing. When I pulled the old bearing I couldn't understand why the steering wheel and shaft flopped around so much because the bearing looked OK, but I ordered a new one anyway. Now I can see why it was flopping around. The white nylon insert takes up all that up/down and side to side play/slack I was getting. Don |
