Looking for (South) SF Bay Area 914 owners
Hey all you SF Bay Area 914 owners!
Would anyone be interested in taking me for a ride in their 914? I've never been in one before and would like to experience the ride. I'm a 911 owner and am considering buying a 914. I'll buy lunch for whomever gives me the ride. I would prefer someone in the Fremont, Milpitas, North/West San Jose, Cupertino, Mountain View areas. Email me if you're interested! spederacing@gmail.com |

I have a factory 914/6 with a 3.2 in it you can ride in. But it's in Carmel Valley.

one can not "outrun" time, in fact, motion and time complement each other to always add up to the speed of light. if you were at a complete rest (in relation to the universe itself) time would move at the speed of light, if you were traveling at the speed of light, time would stand still and if you travel at 1/2 the speed of light, time will also travel at 1/2 the speed of light. no matter what you do, the total of your movement through 3-dimensional space plus your movement through time will *always* add up exactly to the speed of light ... now that we got this out of the way, i'm more than happy to give you a ride in my 914 if you ever make it up to the oakland area! I'll be happy with the equation that shows the relationship between time and the speed of light.

![]() I gave him a ride in my mostly-stock 2.0 liter. He seemed to like the way it handled (quote from the end of an off-ramp: "That was third gear???") and had a lot of good questions to ask. I offered to let him drive, but he declined--he was probably scared of the shifting. ![]() Thanks again for lunch, Mr. Spede! ![]() --DD

OK, that's nice.
Forget 914's for a while, I want more on the speed of light... KT

The relationship between the speed of light and time is a simple constant. Time can be expressed in seconds, the speed of light in a vacuum is about 125,000 miles per second. There, a relationship between the speed of light and a unit of time. :P

Time will continue to tick away regardless of what we are doing.
There are many stars in the night sky that are not really there anymore. the light is still coming from where is was and will continue to do so until tthe time it take for the last bit of light to reach us. That can take hundreds of thousands of years... Doesn't change the fact that the star went out hundreds of thousands of years ago. KT

The special theory of relativity, and all things known considered, the observer would see time as slowing down, and the luminaut would just continue freaking out, because light moves fast.
You don't have to go the speed of light to experience this. Any motion from rest, and you are traveling thru time.. your's just slower than all hell. Time flys, when you're havin' fun! Nope. It flys when you sit on your ass! m

i don't have a photographic memory ... but i *DO* know where to look it up if i need it, which is good enough for me. i pointed you to the sources, if you're really interested in the math., which i doubt, by the way. i'm not going to dig through my books just to post you some equations here that you're most likely not interested in anyways. Brian Greene's, "The elegant Universe" has all the answeres you'll need, go and look it up yourself ... btw. you're not the only one who studied physics in school ... Andy
