Ive installed both units with no trouble. The 3000 I believe has a noticable effect over the 700, but they are both so nice because you never have to touch them again. The tach does work with both units. I cant think of any advice-the instructions are great. i would thread the light gate block hole first-I actuall mounted the block to the stand first, then held it in place as I adjusted the height of the block-you'll see what I mean. Anyway, good luck and enjoy!

Only hang up I had was I bought the univerasal 3000XR kit. Had to play around with different shutter wheels until I found the right one. If you bought VW only kit you should be fine.

A tip is to clean the block around where the dizzy goes into it. Then (easiest with a "shorty" 13mm wrench) remove the nut that holds the dizzy bracket to the block, not the 10mm long nut that holds the dizzy to the bracket. This way when you re-install the dizzy the timing will be close enough to start the engine and you don't have to go through all the TDC re-timing.
