Squeaky clutch pedal

Hi,
sons 74...
Squeaky clutch pedal.
We took out the shifter, look down the tunnel with a mirror, the tube is firmly welded to the tunnel in front and rear.

We did find the accelerator cable was wrapped around the clutch cable...so we thought that was it...nope.

Took the clutch cable off the pedal assembly...the pedal assembly makes no noise.

I am guessing that some chunk of rust may have entered the clutch tube and that is what is causing the squeak...

Anyone else ever had this happen???

We are looking for an easy way to deal with this...hopefully without removing the clutch cable...but it may come to that...

Im thinking..pull the cable housing away from the firewall and shoot compressed air through the tube to dislodge whatever is in there...then shoot a whole can of lube in there from the rear...all the while moving the cable the full 1 foot of play that I can without pulling it into the tube...

Rich

It may still be the clutch pivot. It may only make noise when it's loaded.
