Hey guys,
I'm looking into making a set of urethane bushings or some molds for bushings in the front-end. Does anyone know the Durometer number of the Weltmeister bushings or any other aftermarket ones. Or how about Delrin, anyone used that? I've thought about making a set of pillow blocks and replaceing the bushings with needle bearings but that one is a little far out. The 356 had roller bearing suspension didn't it? ------------------ CWP/VIR 72 914 L20E in rusto. 73 914 L20E 2.0L in resto. http://members.rennlist.com/a914lover [This message has been edited by Conrad W Peden (edited 04-11-2001).] |

Conrad,
I'd guess the Welt. bushings to be about a 75D Durometer. Patrick Motorsports (?) sells delrin bushings, not sure if they are regular Delrin or Delrin AF which is impregnated with Teflon and is brown in color. I had bought a set of the Weltmiester bushings and returned them due to the poor castings. I took all the dimensions of them if you need 'em. Shine Racing sells bearings to replace the bushings. |

Mike,
75D sounds a little soft? Oh well, I'll explore a little more and let you know what I come up with. The dimesional accuracy of the Welt. bushings seems to be a common problem. They are squeezed into a round hole so I figure they will end up round at any rate. I wouldn't mind the dims. if thats cool. I can compare them to a friends of mine who has a set the Welts. Another friend has expressed interest in having a Delrin set made for his PCA Club Racing car so I may explore that avenue for my car as well. May be a little hard for street though.
