Engine thermostat broken?
I was inspecting the underside of my '74 2.0 and found that a small wire coming out of my engine thermostat was broken. How do I fix this? Is the wire an integral part of the thermostat? will I need to replace the entire unit or can I just replace the wire. Where does the wire go? You can tell that I obviously don't know anything about this! Help.

The guys at PP said it pretty well:
"Be cooler than all your friends by owning a new thermostat! The thermostat regulates the amount of cool air that flows across the cylinders and the oil cooler when the car is warming up. A proper operating thermostat is essential for engine longevity in a cold climate." - PP Just buy a new cable for $4.25: http://www.pelicanparts.com/catalog/shopcart/9144/por_9144_exhaus_main.htm Part # 021-119-751 It will be easy to replace in just a few minutes. It just feeds up to the top of the engine and attaches to a lever/clamp. Tim |
Thanks Tim, I appreciate the tip!
