914 Community Reconciliation
Dear Friends,
There have obviously been some problems between us. It’s even more obvious that we can’t throw away the comraderie, and collective soul that is this group of people. What we (all of us) have is bigger than anything the Internet can provide. Perhaps we didn’t handle it with the care and understanding needed to nurture the constituency. This is your club. These are your words. We’ve learned a great deal in the past 11 days. We’ve learned to endure the pain of losing friends, we’ve learned to swallow our pride, we’ve learned to be wiser and to understand that, sometimes, we need to step back in order to move forward. To that end we’ve learned that to have a lot we have to compromise a little. We wanted our friends back together. We have done a lot behind the scenes with one common goal in mind; To bring our friends back together in both element and spirit. We have no intentions of placing demands or excessive rules on you, we just ask that we all come back together and start afresh without any reservations. Ladies and Gentlemen, welcome to YOUR Community. www.914world.com Same great content... same great people... breath of fresh air.

Eric:
99.8 % of us were sitting there with our collective face hanging out as the 914club disappeared out from under us. Now, one of those (that would be you) who caused this are perpetuating this and them has the gall to call for "reconciliation". This BBS does not allow for me to use the language I would like to use in reply in response to those who caused this schizm and the resulting bad feelings caused by it. A raised middle finger is my reply.

But....I don't think Brad was looking for this clusterf***.. It was imposed on him/us. Maybe he should have forseen the possibility and been a bit more flexible or sneaky. Joe Stalin woulda handled it

My solution is that I'm only posting here from now on. The variants of the 914club boards have been far too unstable for me to trust that any version of it is going to stay around or stay up, reliably. PP's board has been very stable, it's well managed by DD, and it's all I need.

Move on. From what was posted the shut down was caused by actions and reactions by both parties and up to that time there was mutual ownership.
You have choices of sites, make it because bickering will not help any of them...

Well since I have been out of the USA enjoying Europe while all this BS was going on, can someone please spill the beans and tell the truth on what happened.......
I come to this site now and again cuz I have been posting here for a long time and its a neutral site.

Now what?!
I go offline for a few weeks for shoulder surgery and the non-club melts down, again!? WTF, OVER!! I view the non-club, here on the bird site, and the renn site as valuable resources for 914 and other p-car related info. I've been involved with these web based forums going back to the Porschephiles days and have always enjoyed the camaraderie, banter, and at times down right silliness on each and every site. It's too bad the actions of a few always screw it up for the many.

We all posted on 914club and shared info freely. What's to be hurt about? The most members can feel is a little deflated whilst it was offline.
I'm just relieved all the content is accessible now

My take on that is that the 914 club was started by a friend of ours. Most of us knew each other in person and from the renegade site, the early rennlist 914 list, and the chat forum that Brad started. We were some of the early ones who supported the club and it was a very cool place to hang out. Then more and more people signed up, more and more admins trying to run it their way, then they tried to screw our friend by taking away his admin rights.
Then all the data from the 914 club is gone, but ends up on a different website. A place where there are all kinds of people who are bagging on our friend, stabbing him in the back as it were. How could we possibly have any loyalty to our friend and the 914 club website without having our feathers ruffled up? Last edited by sammyg2; 12-31-2006 at 11:56 AM.. |

You know I was lucky enough to miss all the drama. I was in the middle of a move and was offline for 2 weeks. I have only met a few people personally and that was way back in 01......to me it's more about my car and the information I was collecting for when I did my build. All my links in a folder I titled "914 Threads of interest" are all dead now. That's what bums me out more than anything. Call me shallow, but I was in it for the car.
I hope I can find a way to look all this up again, but I doubt it. This is only half of the links I had saved.

I hired Brad to work on my 914 V8 over 2 years ago after meeting him on the old Porschev Yahoo bbs years earlier. I entrusted him and his crew to get my car back on the road and they did a good job. I know he's helped several 914 owners for little or no money. On the other hand I also personally know people whom had a negative experiences with him and loss of substantial money. Brad has good and bad qualities which are magnified by these forums. Those with postitive experiences with him will support 914club and those who had negative experiences will support the other site(s)... Happy New Year!

Add me to the list of people who aren't getting over this very quickly.
If I see my banner ads displayed at 914world for 365 days I would let it go. Alternately I might accept a public apology from the entire admin team for leading my company into an advertising deal and then abdicating their responsibilities. The only admin I have seen express any remorse over the unfortunate events so far is McMark (and I had to find that at a site I do not frequent). I can not consider any of the other admins a friend as of this time. Otherwise I may continue being a prick at the 914world. I'm cetrtainly not going to put on the rose colored glasses they handed out. I will continue to support Brad because as far as I can tell he didn't deserve to have the rug pulled out from him.

what is up with the a$$ kissing to Brad from some of you folk??
is it so hard to think that he "might" have had something to do with the 'breakup" of the club??? why would these "evil-admins" just wake up one day and decide to f@#$ him over with the 914club site??? I've talked to Brad, Mark and Andy and I see what and how it happened, I also can see thier individual reasons for thinking the way they do on some of the issues. and yes, I remain freinds with Brad, in fact tonight I'll be working on a set of HIS billet hubs for a customer of his at no charge..... people just need to get over it and quit being so one-sided about...
