Dash top installation

I am going to install a new dash top. Is there any tricks or stunts I should know about before starting this project?http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1172713247.jpg

Looks v. nice; did it start life with that red? I've bought a plastic dash cap, but will wait for warm weather before attempting the install. Is that the thing you're talking about, or are you re-doing the orig. material? If the farmer, and it's warm there sooner, give me/us a report!

I purchase a OEM complete dash top. not a recover. I have tried to pry the old dash off but after applying massive force and it didn't come off I am regrouping. I have broke to many parts using brute force so I was hoping for some advise.

I get the feeling that complete replacement isn't done much or I would have heard from some one?

Dash top replacement

It doesn't pry off. It is held on by 6 or 7 plastic nuts. All are accessed from below the dash except for the two (I think 2, it's been awhile since I did this) behind the instrument cluster. You have to remove the glove box and radio to get to the others. There is one at each end of the dash top too. You can see some of them if you get a light up under the dash. I also removed the 2 interior windshield pillar trim pieces so it would come off easier.
It's not a difficult job, just a PITA and removing all this other stuff to get to the nuts. Don't think I forgot anything. If so, others may fill in the blanks. BTW, great looking car!
Good luck.

The two at the front of the instrument binnacle are a pain. You can only see the side of the nuts; use an open-end wrench on them.
