How to remove a tierod

The car I just bought has an original tierod on one side and "turbo" tierod on the other. I got another turbo tierod with the car I want to install. I bought the tierod wrench from Pelican, for old and turbo tierods. The parts diagrams I've seen don't have enough detail for me to know how the tierod is fastened. I would like to hear from someone who has actually done this how to remove the old tierod. At the wheel end I'm using a split chisel. After I disconnect it at the wheel end and undo the lock-nuts how does the final forked part that is attached to the steering arm come off? I assume it has the same threaded end as the turbo tierod.

The Tie rod is screwed into the rack (righty tighty / lefty Loosy)
The rod end at the spindle is wedge fit and is going to be pretty tight. Whack the spindle with a hammer on the side and the rod end will pop right out. The correct tool is the fancy press that looks like a gear puller. "pickle fork" will tear thing up but it will get the job done.

Thanks, I loosened everything and was able to turn the tie where it screws into the steering arm. I'm about done with the pickle fork. I have a puller I'm going to try now. I don't know what the wrench I got from pelican is for.
