Talking Absolutely Amazed!

I took my car out to the Great Plains Region DE this weekend at Heartland Park Topeka. I beat the livin hell outta her for 2 whole days! At or near (or above) redline all weekend and she took it in stride, even thrived! She runs better now (after the beating) than she ever has. Even though she was THE lowest H.P. and slowest car there I had an absolute ball! And she made it the 150 miles home without a problem. I must say I was truly impressed. These cars were obviously made to take the abuse! If she can tolerate all of that beating I won't hesitate to drive her ANYWHERE with confidence! Thanks for all the help in the making of a great, reliable car! Brian

Brian:

I find that these cars do better if they are driven, daily and hard. For some reason aircooled cars don't store well. No empirical data, just my gut feeling.

All Porsches are designed as solid platforms for race vehicles. Everyone of them has been raced. Autocross, time trials, club racing, I've seen all these driven quite hard.

Have fun!

Since you are putting your car on the track, I recommend so preventative maintenance.

I would replace the old rubber suspension bushings. I have had these fail at the track!!

I've always heard that your car will run the best that it ever did right before it blows up.

That is true, they also run better after you wash them....? mine does!? Go figure, should be a rocket in the rain..

I think that statement came out of roundy-rounds (NASCAR intelligence), has something to do with the motor tightening up.

Damn....I hope not.... But if it does...it was freakin fun while it lasted! I think I'm hooked! This car will be at the nearby DE's from now on. Now, to find the bank to rob to afford it! Brian

Brian,

Good for you. This stuff is totally addicting. I love Heartland Park and make it out every year for the Club Race in the fall. Probably my favorite track, although some of the colorado tracks favor our 914s a little more. Please come out an introduce yourself at the next GPR club race. I'll be in a black 914 #19.
