Hi All..
Sorry for the 911 content but I tried the 911 bbs but it wouldn't let me post w/o signing up (i think).. I've got a friend who is looking at buying a Targa down in AZ. He's concerned that there maybe something fishy with the numbers.. I'm wondering if there is some sort of database where these can be referenced, or does one just have to make an inquiry to the factory.... Thanks for the help..! Chris |

I'm not sure if Carfax ( http://www.carfax.com ) will tell you if a body or an engine have been stolen or not. But they're worth a try. And every once in a while, you run into someone who has paid the $$ for the one-month deal and is willing to look up cars for anyone.
Just for general "what engine goes in what body" questions, Bruce Anderson's "911 Performance Handbook" is well worth the money. He also answers a whole lot of other 911 questions. http://www.pelicanparts.com/catalog/shopcart/911E/POR_911E_documt_pg2.htm#item6 --DD EDIT-- Note that Carfax only works on later (don't know the years) cars--the Porsches it can look up have VINs that start "WPO". ------------------ Pelican Parts 914 Tech Support A few pics of my car: http://www.pelicanparts.com/gallery/Dave_Darling [This message has been edited by Dave_Darling (edited 07-24-2001).] |
