Turn signal/wiper switch, will mixing a 73 and 74 work?

I have a 73 914. The turn signal switch doesn't return and needs to be replaced. I have the turn signal/wiper switches from a 74. They are similar but not identical.

The turn signal switch from the 74 seems to work fine but the wiper switch doesn't. The wiper switch from the 73 seems to work fine.

Am I going to have any problems combining the 74 turn signal switch with the 73 wiper switch and using the result in a 73?

I installed them. The wipers still work with the 73 switch, but the turn signals don't. The side marker lights turn on with the ignition switch off as expected. The turn signal lights on the dash no longer flash.
