What to watch for

I am going to look at a 1972 914 and want to know what areas should be examined for wear/rust. I know all the 911 weak spots but I am new to the 914

I recommend a PPI. Rust can be everywhere, under the rockers, under the battery tray, in the trunk.

Be sure to also check the front truck to see if it has been wrecked...

Just look everywhere, and you'll be covered :-D
Seriously, the main spots to look for rust would be the battery tray and rear suspension mount, the longitudinals, the rear trunk, the seat mounting bracket area, and around the windshield. I was lucky to find mine w/ very little rust on it...and what I found was non-structural and easily POR-15 treatable. And I live on the east coast!
