Been a vw bug nut for a long time but found I like the 914 more and more but don't know it. Will have to travel just to find one. I'm 6'6" and with bugs I buzz off the track catch. I understand the 914's are more restrictive. Will be sitting in one to try it out soon. Any height stories tips or opinions please feel free...tia

I bought my 914 from my brother, 6'7".
He would never fit in the car with a helmet and the roof on. If you intend to autocross or track etc.. take a helmet with you to see how you fit. On of the tall guys in my region takes the cushion out of the seat and puts in a piece of carpet underlay. Give you an inch or two and provides a bit of lateral support for your butt. good luck ------------------ CWP/VIR 72 914 L20E in rusto. 73 914 L20E 2.0L in resto. a914lover73@hotmail.com |

One problem you might run into is your legs hitting the steering wheel. This can be solved with a smaller wheel.

I am 6'4" with short legs and a very long upper torso. The 914 is the best fit of any
sports car I have ever sat in. As to the helmet for autocross... I plan to remove the seat cushion to make up for it. I can sit on a hard pan for a couple of laps. It will also give me a bit more side support. ------------------ ===Bernie=== |

I'm 6'4" and am quite comfortable in the car. I have a friend who is 6'5" and owns a 914. He has a bit of trouble as he went to an aftermarket seat. But he, too, said that as long as he stayed with the factory seat there was no problem with head- or leg-room, even with a center console.
