Front trunk spring

Does anyone have instructions on how to install the front trunk springs?

I took one off, scared the living $h*t out of me so I left the other one on. There is alot of stored energy in them springs!!!!!!Now I ned to put the one I took off back on. Any ideas.

Thanks

Front trunk springs are pretty easy.....get a helper to hold the lid open or a SAFE way to prop it open. Get a "T" handle hook tool or use a doubled up coat hanger.

Put the hook around the end of the spring and while standing in font of the car pull towards you. Install one perch at a time, alternating sides....

Get a brake spring tool from your local flaps, then notch and grind the end like this. One end goes around the bracket and the other grabs the spring.

Thanks guys.
I figured better ask then maybe lose a finger or eye. That screwdriver wasn't working to well.

Yup, them things are stiff!!! used Ed's method few weeks back. Happy dance all around when the hood don't bonk me on the noggin no more.

I've used the Zois method for years, works fine and only costs you a coat hanger. Use a scrap piece of old garden hose for a soft handle.

Another tip is to make sure the pivot bolt is properly adjusted. Mine was too loose, causing binding which kept the hood from opening all the way. It was like this for years, I thought I needed new springs, until I adjusted it.

I used a small crowbar. I just hooked the nail-puller end between the coils and gave a big tug. Worked like a champ.
