See if it is motor oil or gear oil. There is a sight hole in the top of the tranny that "may" be how gear oil made it on top of the motor. My 75 leaks like a sieve when it is hot compared to cold so the pushrod tubes may not mean anything, someone might have used RTV on them (bad idea). Check the dipstick to see if the motor is low. If it is then you may have lost a rear main seal or galley plug then the oil coated the clutch disc. If it is gear oil you may have blown the front input shaft seal on the trans. Again this may have coated the disc with fluid.

Good news, the motor dosen't have to come out. Bad news, the tranny probably will have to come out, but it can be done with the motor in the car.

Oh yeah, I may have gotten ahead of myself. The oil may have NOTHING to do with it. Look at the clutch cable. It sounds like the clutch works, but look at the shift linkage, things can come loose on those tail shifters pretty easy. It may have poped out of gear and then the rod may have fallen off. Good news is if the tranny blew something inside tail shifters are really cheap. I've seen a lot of them for $75-$100. Nobody wants them.

im pretty sure the clutch is gone, when i got it home i put it in gear and the wheels would turn just fine, not like they should, it should have been trying to turn the engine as well..guess ill go ahead and pull the tranny, and i have a spare from my parts car, so im not worried bout it being bad..
