Importing a car from Canada to USA

Not sure where to post this (moderator please feel free to move topic if necessary). I am considering buying a car (1970 914/6) in Canada and am curious about the process and expense of bringing the car to the US? I do know the car does not have a title, only a registration. Anyone out there know what is involved?

hi there , i have done the it the other way many times and it is a lot simpler , but it depends

1 st thing , in canada , the registration is a title ( it is the same document )

now it depends on how you bring the car back

if you are present with the car at the border when it crosses , that cheap, you show the bill of sale , the registration, you pay the tax ( depends on the state you cross not that you live )

and then its yours ,

then you have to go to your state MTO , then you have to get it inspected or e tested ( again depending on the state)

if you are not sure , call the border office at which you intent to cross, they will be glad to explain

the other way is to hire a broker ( 3-4 K) plus tax( the same you pay at the border) and shipping

the other way is a lot more complicated
