Need help on installing rear sway bar drop links.
Hey, I just got some drop links and bushings for my rear sway bar on a 75 1.7, Im having one heck of a time putting them on though, does anyone know of a good way to pry them on? And at the same time, would it be better to have the bushings on the joints of the sway bar and strut first or the links themselves?
Any ideas, past experiences etc would be appreciated! Thanks! |
I put them on the end links first, dropped in HOT water for a few minutes to soften them, vise with small screwdriver to get them going. Rubber mallet to pop it on to the end of the shock, C clamp to get it on the end of the sway bar

Ok, Ill try this.
Thanks! |
I usually add some grease and drill a tiny hole in the back.
The reason why they don't go together easy is because of the air trapped inside when you try to insert the swaybar into the bushing. If you give the air a way to escape, the bar slides right into the bushing with little effort. SmileWavy Andy |
Ok, will do that too.
Thanks! |

Yeah, Ill probably do all of it (hot water and putting holes in them sound most promising) and see what I can achieve from that.

Ok, so I used hot water and put holes in the back, they went in so it worked. Thanks for the help!
