Happy day!

My car just arrived today all the way from Honolulu, Hawaii, to my home on the east coast. It IS still a project car, but now it's here where I can work on it

And not a single picture to share? Did you move or was this car such a deal that no closer car would suffice?

Sorry for posting a teaser. I'll try to get pictures added later today. Home life has been too busy the last few days. Thanks for the encouragement.
I've owned the car since June '97. I was stationed in Pearl Harbor at the time. It was a project car when I bought it and hasn't been started since '92. I moved to Connecticut in January, 2001, and had to leave the car behind in storage. With my retirement from the Navy pending I had to get it here or give it up. Not being one to give up easily on a project car, I chose the former.

The day I took these pictures, it started out innocently enough... then I decided it needed a little quick-cleaning for the picture session. While I only did a few quick basics, it took almost an hour and there's still more to do!
This set is basically a walk-around of the car. I'll see how the post turns out and add more.

Here are some shots of the cowl (lots of work to be done here!), trunk, and targa top storage compartment.

Last, but not least, some shots of the engine compartment (including the ever-popular Hell Hole!) and a couple of shots of the interior from the outside of the car.

That is a BIG project, I like the enthusiasm though. I still kick myself, I'm gutting (very slowly) my 75, 1.8 for a track car and I tossed some items like good to excellent condition rubber bumpers, an oem center guage consol in excellent cond... I figured there wouldn't be anyone interested. I'll be sure to keep decent parts and put them up on the boards for projects that need them.

Good luck and check out the rust repair threads on here and 914world.com, many have been there and done that. And most important, THANK YOU FOR SERVING!
