Are they all 1-4-3-2 ?
I was helping a friend replace his plugs, wires, cap and rotor a few days ago. I put the wires on the cap in 1-4-3-2 order, which I thought was the firing order for all 914-4's. We test fired it in the garage and it seemed to run fine, but after I had left and he went to fire it up, he said it wouldn't run right. Eventually, he says, he switched the wires to 1-3-4-2 and it ran normally again. Does this make sense? I am trying to figure out what I'm missing here....

1-4-3-2 is correct.
Make sure the dizzy drive shaft wasn't put in 180 degrees off. DAPO tend to do things like that. Took me weeks to figure that one out ... SmileWavy Andy |
Thanks.
That had occurred to me, though I can't imagine how an engine would even run when 180 deg. off of an incorrect firing order. I guess more investigation is called for. |
