free heat upgrade

yes i found a way to get more heat for free, and 1 hour work

i will be attaching pictures, wayne if you want to make a tech article out of this i have more pics

step one go into your work shop and get the hose from you shop vac (like you ever use it) it must be the 2.5 inch size

then go to the car and what you will be doing is cutting a hole into air blower box in the center of the car and tying the heater tube coming out of the drivers side into the air box and closing off the intake below the windsheild

there are 6 clips that hold the front of the air box on and 2 bolts that hold it up to the cowl take all of the above out, as well as the expansion tank off

then cut a hole in the air box to fit the vac hose at an angle
it will be an oval

the vac hose is a perfect fit for the heater hose coming out of the long so take it off of the air controller box

get some epoxy putty and glue the vac hose in to the airbox cover so it angles toward the side of the car

after the putty cures take the parts back to the car and reinstall everything and cut the vac hose to lenth to fit into the heater hose

then you have to close the intake below the windsheild, the high tech way would be to close the air box inside or to get some magnetic sheet ( like dominos signs are made ) in the right color and slap them over the intake so when heat is not needed you just close the flappers with the lever on the floor and take the magnet sheet off ( i used electric tape for now )

now i only did the drivers side heater tube but you could do the pass side but you would need to take the air box out completely on put the hose from the passenger side in to the side of the air box because the expansion tank is in the way

what this does is when you turn the fresh air blower on it sucks from the heater tube not the out side intake

total cost 5 bucks for magnet sheet if you use it and if you dont have the vac hose it is 15 bucks for 7 feet ( enough for 3 installs )

now this increased the heat in my car from basicly nil to having to turn the fan down because it got hot
