Gauge Questions???
two questions?
1: does the vdo oil temp gauge use the same sender as the stock 914 sender? and if not do they make one that will fit in the stock location? 2: My new exhaust(new to me) already has a bung for a air/fuel mix sensor...any recomendations on gauges that you like? Thanks, Tony Chavez |
1) Nope, you should use the new VDO sender that matches the gauge. Pelican sells them both. Easy install if you already have a console w/ the factory temp gauge.
2) Sorry, can't help ya there, but I figure VDO makes something that would work and look pretty stock. |
There are several rich/lean meters that you can buy which use an oxygen sensor. An oxygen sensor creates millivolts and the guage reads the millivolts and translates it into a lean/rich guage. OTTO

You can check with PP here to see if they have a kit similar to the one CB Performance sells with a 3 wire O2 sensor and nice meter. I'd get the whole kit with the extra bung just in case you might need it in the future. I use a three wire weather proof connector at the O2 sensor so I can unplug it and I ran the wires in a harness up the tunnel. Good luck.

Cool...I will look into the A/F cB kit and see if pelican sells something similar...
So those of you who run the VDO oil temp gauge...where does the sender go? Do they make one that fits in the stock location? Thanks, Tony |
Im pleased with the looks of the Nordskog unit, matches the stock gauges about as good as it gets...VDO doesn't make one that I could find...

Yes, there is an oil temp sender that fits in the stock location. I used to have a part number, but I don't have one handy now. I think the threads are M14, but again I'm not sure.
