looking for info and assist on Shift linkage travel.

Okey, I'm working on the 928 conversion. I dry fit my modified oil pan. The stock side shift linkage still won't fit. So I will need to build a linkage using a combination of the side shift and tail shift linkage. I'm going to use liniar bearings in place of the nylon bushings. I have a nice straight shot from the pivot ball location to the rear nylon bushing on the side shift transaxle. So I can simply make a new lingage from the pivot ball the the rear bushing. What I need to know is how much the linkage moves from first through second gear. I'm going to replace the pivot ball on the firewall with persision shaft for the bearing in the new linkage to ride on. But I need to know how far the bearing will need to travel front to rear.

Thanks all, I went back out and stared at the linkage a little more and it hit me. All I need to do is use the tail shifter handle and rod section with the bulkhead ball and make a new rear rod (straight no bends) with the side shift end at the transaxle. BTW, the rod moves 40MM from 1st to reverse. One more problem solved, on to the cooling system.

I e-mailed the guy that listed the two cars for sale a couple of times When I first heard about the existance of those two cars, But I never got a response. I had hoped to eventually speak with the builder of the two cars. When we up-date the Alien 914 website, I'm going to add an article announcing the two as another UFO (Unidentified Fast Object) siting. I'm atleast going to post the three pics that were posted here.
