Optima size...revisist

Good morning fellers,

I know the topic has been discussed. I have searched and read all of the optima threads. I still can't get that good feeling that the one size Optima will fit. The specifications on the Optima, they are all the same size now, indicate that it is 10" long. My stock battery tray measures 9.25". Is the bottom(yes the bottom of an optima is unclear considering the whole put it in ny orientation) narrower than the top (the red yellow or blue top)?

Here is what I have for the most recent specifications:

Length 10"
Width 6 7/8"
Height 7 13/16

So, Is this close to the size you all have installed in your cars? Or is the "footprint" of the battery smaller?

Any help is appreciated.

Scott

I do as well. If anything, I wish the bottom of it was wider so it was held a little more securely by the stock hold-down... The length is not a problem. I'll try to remember to measure when I get home, but...

Both of my optimas measure just about 9" in length. No problem at all fitting the stock battery tray.

(He remembered, he remembered!!)

I found a good deal for a red top Optima...pepboys...$109.00. Here is the deal. This series battery is a smaller unit than the "standard" Otpima size I mentioned earlier. It also has a larger bottom lip for base clamping. It is the group 75/35 and it is actually slightly shorter that the other standard sized. Other may fit, this one fits like a glove. It is down on CCA slightly only 720.
