Update on 74 pre purchase inspection
I just got back from checking out that 74 2.0
the top side of both rockers; you guessed it they have surface rust on them, also the underside of the rockers both have a thin rust split aprox 6-8 inches long. Also under the battery tray about 9 inches down between the firewall there is a 6 inch hole also the passenger side doorjamb is rusting I did'nt want to poke it because the owner was standing over me. All the other areas pedals, behind seat, mounts front and rear trunk pans are like new. The owner also informed me that the car has been stored for 10yrs. Should I take it or not help |

Pass on it! I would wait up to 3 years to find a "surface rust" only car. It will be cheaper and streetable sooner..Experience talking here.

Hey! Nice Rack! "Celette"

Does it run good? Any signs of oil leaks? Cars that sit (in my opinion, and you asked for it, are worse off than a car that is driven)hot days inside a garage will cause oil to dissapate. Frosty days will cause condensation. aluminum will corrode, metel will rust, fuel passages will plug, wire conections will fail, ect. You get the picture. Do your self a favor and give the guy a card with your phone number on it and tell him when he is ready to take 100.00 for the car to call you. then when you strip the car for parts at least you'll pay your self for the work. Someone out there must have a better project car for you. How about it guys can someone help out?
