Centering Rocker Arms
I am in the process of performing the swivel foot valve adjuster conversion, and have noticed that the adjusters aren’t centered on the valve stems along the axis of the rocker shafts (off by about .030”). How important is this, and how could it be corrected?
I could center one adjuster by adding one or two spacer washers between its respective rocker and rocker assembly base, but it’s the other one I am concerned about. It appears as if I need to remove material form the rocker assembly base on that side. All input would be greatly appreciated. |

They should be offset. If I remember this is designed to allow the rocker arm to rotate the valve during operation. This facilitates even wearing of the valve and seat. They should not be centered.

This also brings up an interesting position on swivel foot adjusters. Becuase they can spin with the valve they cannot spin the valve during the arch of operation????? Hey, I have used them for years on T-1 hotrods!!! with no problems.
