poor quality????
I just recently rebuilt a 74 2.0 engine. It now has approx. 2000 miles on it and I started hearing, gradually I think, valve train noise on the 3/4 cyl. side. I popped off the vavle cover on the noisy head and discovered one valve adjuster screw sort of smashed offcenter. The gap created was .006 off therefore it WAS a noisy valve adjustment on just the intake of #4 cyl. Has anyone had this happen and if so is it poor quality screws?

I've seen this before-right after a rebuild. About half the valve screws had divets worn into them from the valve stem-Its impossible to set the clearence after this happens. I've heard that there is a difference in quality (and price!) between VW and Porsche adjuster screws. I replaced all with Porsche and haven't seen it again. Bought them from Pelican.
