I put a 75 porsche clarion in my 76 914 but im not sure of the wirring. There are two solid red wires and one ground. All i have is one red going to the battery though- and it works fine, but i'd really like to get it installed correctly so it turns off with the car, any help would be nice, thanks!

Instead of running the lead directly to the battery (which I doubt you did), you can run it to the fuse block. Some of the fuses are associated with accessories that are off when the key is off. It's a matter of finding the right ones.
I don't have the wiring diagram in front of me, and I no longer own a 914, so I can't say which one. When I had a 914, I tried several connections on the fuse block until I found the right fuse. BTW, I am not an electrical engineer and I make no disclaimer as to my advice. If your car suddenly erupts in flames, I suggested grabbing a fire extinguisher fairly quickly! Regards, Karl |

Are you using the factory harness? My 72 had a factory wiring harness in the dash for everything (from power to speakers). It was very simple - power, ground, and two speaker wires, all wrapped in the same covering as the rest of the original wiring harness. Even though it is a 1975 radio - is it a manual tune or the first generation of those with digital read outs? If it is the latter it could be for the memory circuit.

Im not sure that this is original, but i think it is b/c the date is 75, it looks like the rest, and the guy i bought it from had the plastic face cut out plastic made by porsche. the previous owner had a new stereo installed, all that is left is one red wire, ialthough the heater isnt working and im not sure if its meant for the radio. right now its is just wired through a wire straight to the battery which was hooked to the previous owners amp, I would like to leave this one in the car for the original look and the neat old stereo tone. its the unlabled stereo wires where I am stumped, and its working with out a ground, i am pretty sure it was original, but i to had heard that blaupunkts were mainly used, thanks for the help, is there only a ground and red feeding into the blaupunkts?
