914 2.0 Exhaust Alternatives (Mullfer that is)

Running Stock 2.0 with Stainless Heat Exchangers... Looking for alternatives that sounds mean for the muffler (keeping my HE). I have the BURSCH tuned at the moment but it is wearing out. I would not mind changing the muffler if i can find something different.

I looked on youtube trying to find some good sounds. The flowmaster was interesting. Its seems that there are limited real options that people are doing on these.

Any ideas???? What are guys running beside the standard 914 stuff?

What is wearing out on the Bursch? If it's just the muffler part, you can probably get a muffler shop to cut that off and weld on something like a Flowmaster.

The Sebring is pretty similar to the collector part of a Bursch, but with a bolt-on muffler instead of the welded-on one of the Bursch.

The Monza four-tip sounds more aggressive, but I personally don't care for the sound.

Triad up in the Pac NW makes a muffler that is more aggressive as well.

You'll generally need some sort of collector as well as a muffler, since the stock exchangers terminate in four independent pipes. (Assuming you mean the 73-74 2.0 exhaust and not the awful 75-76 one.)

Hey Dave! I have SS HE and the BURSCH that I just got used. But the BURSCH (muffler specifically) has a rattle in it when i shake it around (off the car)... So im going to install it and see if it works well or not... Then if it needs replacing i am going to have the Muffler (only) cut off and replaced with a different one... Was looking at things like Flowmaster but I wonder if its a good sound on the 4cyl air cooled... I like the throaty sound of the Bursch and just looking for options.

Nice list of options BTW... Thanks...

Stock is fairly expensive to get new, but I do like the sound. It's lower-pitched than most of the aftermarket mufflers, but definitely quieter.

....Unless it's "really blown out" and rattles when you tip it side to side. Then it's pretty loud...

Oh, and it's noticeably heavier than pretty much any of the aftermarket pieces.
