Torque, Torque, Torque
Nope, I'm not mimmicking the sweedish chef....
Does anyone have a reccomendation on books for engine part selection for rebuilding? I have a couple of the how to rebuild the type IV books, but nothing on cam selection, etc. I have a hopped up 1.8 engine I recently aquired, and my plan is to take it and turn it into a torque monster. I'm trying to set up this car for autocross and a wide torque band would seem preferable to high HP. Suggestions? Maybe A paid consulation with Jake? James

Longer stroke equates to more torque. The problem is that high quality stroker cranks such as Pauter are not cheap and there is a lot of prep machining to do to be able to use one. I have a 78mm Pauter crank and it has the large bearings and forged rods. The pistons are custom so they will clear the crank and are also expensive. But is sure does have the accelaration out of a corner. Good luck.
