club vs. world?

I'm looking for a cheap 914 as a driver. I think I will have more luck on a 914 forum, but which one? What's the difference?

Do a search on either and you'll find lots of threads about the split. Short answer is they are the same site from a couple years ago back before the split. Looking at the daily numbers, you'll have a lot more success on the world site, but is there a reason you can't read/post on both?

I'm just wondering which would be better to join, or if the answer is both. I can still browse classifieds on each.

eh, I belong to both just because I was a member at the club site since it opened. I dont go to the club site much, I'm sure the world site will give you all the info you can handle.

If I was looking to pickup another 914 I'd peruse both World, the Club as well as this site. You will often find an item(s) posted on each or at least two of them. World has the most traffic however. I belong to all three of these sites visit each almost daily and I'm not alone athough a number of folks don't admit to checking out the Club.

Good luck in your search.

I would say to try The Samba which is what I used to sell my 914-6 race car a few years ago. the two sites mentioned are okay as is Pelican and they all have their share of querky characters.

Think "Club & World"

and Pelican, Samba, Craigslist, local news rag........

Look everywhere you can on the net. You never know where you'll find the "gem" that you're looking for..

A couple of the best Porsche I've had were listing in the San Francisco Chronicle.

I happened to see the word "cheap" in your description of the 914 you want to buy. From what I can remember, there is no such thing. If the asking price is low then there will be things wrong and that means either you do some work or a shop has to and in either case it will end up costing. I would suggest getting a very through pre purchase inspection including compression test, smog test (if needed), leak down test, transmission fluid inspection, shift bushing inspection, brake fluid check (is it black) and a close look under the rocker panels and in the hell hole. If the previous owner has all the receipts that is a big plus.
