'74 vs '75 wiring and steering column differences

Can somebody summarize the difference between 1974 and 1975 cars for the following....

1. Main body wiring harness
2. Steering column configuration
3. Ignition differences
4. Steering column switches
5. Anything else funky.
6. Not concerned about the engine wiring harness.

I seem to recall some differences in past readings about different ignition switches, plastic gauge panels, vs. metal, obviously the front mounted fuel pump.

Question is related to the following.

I have a brand new 1974 main body wiring harness. Wanted to know if it would work with a 1975 car without any modifications.

Regards,

Karl Ellzey

The 74 car has the funky seatbelt interlock not found on the 75.

The 74 car has a metal three-gauge panel, vs a plastic one on the 75 car, which also has the EGR and CAT lights on the panel. there must be differences related to the EGR and CAT lights.

Not sure if the 75 car has a Fasten Seatbelts light like the 74 car does.

The 75 2.0L car has a different D-Jet FI harness than a 74 2.0 car, they are not interchangeable. The 74 and 75 L-car FI harnesses are identical.

You mentioned the front mounted fuel pump on the 75 car, which would be different than the 74 car main harness.

Actually, the 75/76 cars do NOT all have EGR and CAT lights on the dash. Only CA 75/76 'teeners have the EGR and CAT lights. 49-state cars are not equipped with either an EGR system or a catalytic converter. I know because I have a 49-state (originally purchased in Kansas) 1976 914 2.0. My 76 even has a little factory sticker in the doorjam that says it's a "non-catalytic converter" car. The 76 does have the seat belt light (though mine doesn't light and I really don't care), and since the 76 cars were just leftover 75's I would imagine that the 75 cars also have the seat belt light.
