does this pic make me a shade tree mechanic
lets see today new push rod tube seals, exhaust gaskets, valve adjustment and motor mount ... it was a good day |
By the look of the neighborhood, you're lucky the car wasn't stripped while you were under it!
James :p |
I have been to Scott's place. He does live IN Baltimore city. Scott, I got to give you credit, the working conditions are extreme. I don't think I would try to tackle 914 ownership with your shadetree garage.
:) scott |

Don't you just love not having to worry :-) I live and operate LN Engineering out of Momence, IL, a small farm town with 3k residents. My wife has left the keys in her car in the ignition for weeks at a time with the car wide open. No locks on the doors, great cops, and even better neighbors go a long way. Take care, Charles Navarro LN Engineering http://www.LNengineering.com Aircooled Precision Performance |
What kind of the rims are on your car? Thanks Dave

The wheels are Rivera
Working on the street, I would paint a target on it, to make sure they don't hit it.... |
A quick question for you,Scott. Where is my seat rail I bought on E-Bay from you in early July? You have not answered my e-mail, so I am using this venue.

That will sell for $300,000.00 I wish I lived in Baltimore! In Santa Cruz, CA I could put a cardboard box next to the ocean and it would sell for $300,000.00 J/K
I salute you for making do with what you got. I used to do repairs on the street. It is a PITA for sure, but you do what you got to do! Chris 914 LOVER!!! |
To be a "true shade tree mechanic", the car has to have Mr. Gasket, Onion 75, etc stickers on the front quarters - have tobacco stripes down the side -steel wheels - a jug of shine on the trunk.
Sorry, you're just resourceful and practical:D I live in the mountains and would die for an asphalt patch under a tree to work on my german windsucker. I'm ready for the flames nowhttp://www.pelicanparts.com/support/smileys/vuur.gif |
You forgot the JC Whitney Accessories....

You may think you're just kidding... One thing I hate about the Bay Area--any place I could consider living is over a half-million bucks. :( --DD |
I am so glad I bought into the market last fall and didn't wait to "look around" like one of my colleges. My Townhouse has gone up 35% in 9 months. If I can get the HOA to agree on this, we will install roof decks on our units and this will give us all both Ocean and Bay (Mission Bay) views. The value increase with that will be substantial.
What I regret is that I was considering a house instead of a townhouse. The area I was looking, the prices have gone from the Lower 400's to the Upper 500's and Lower 600's. From October 2001 to now. Do you know how many 914's I can buy with this? James (Answer: More than I need!) PS: RON! It's not Sunday morning anymore....;) |
