I prefer the cooler reds myself. I really like the way your car looks on my screen...

But then, that points out one of the real difficulties in trying to judge colors over the Net. Monitors are different, color tables in the browsers are different, some browsers approximate colors, JPEGs tend to dither a fair amount anyway, and so on. Tough to be sure what someone else is seeing looks like what you're seeing...

I know its Guards Red. It said so on the side of the spray can .

You are correct about Guards Red having some orange in it. It may be my picture more than your montior, though. The pic was taken with an el-cheapo disposable camera while the sun was starting to set. I hope that doesn't change your opinion about the way my car looks .

Later,

Don

Good to see so many nice cars in soo many colors. Kevin, I am here on vacation for 3 weeks. I will look around that car but most cars here are Japanese less than 5 years old. Everyone here in Paramaribo has 3 cars so traffic is a joke. They also drive on the wrong side and don't obey what traffic signs they are here. A 914 wouldn't last long here as the roads are awful, either muddy or full of deep potholes (4x4 914 maybe?) I have seen only one converible. There are so far 3 VW Golfs and several BMW's (drug guys probably).
I really miss Porsches driving around though...
Da.

You can see examples of pieces of an Alaska Blue Metallic car in BRM9148's posts. Check "trunk rust (sorta)", and "Dave Darling in my trunk?".

Not the whole car, but perhaps enough to give you an idea...

Andrew -

To me, your car looks like Phoenix Red. The color code for that is L32K. What does it say on the plate inside the driver's door?

Here's a "tangerine" 71 914. It's still factory paint, although it's getting a bit weathered.

L32K Phoenix Red:

L65K Ravenna Green:

Both cars were repainted, but color matched quite well (my camera's color fidelity sometimes is a different story).

Porsche Crest One more tangerine...

L21E (also known as "Blutorange" or "Blood Orange" in German. I really like that name but I guess American sensibilities [and the lawyers] couldn't handle that, so it was changed to "Tangerine")
