914 Fuel Injection electronics are not OBDII capable. I think that is what you were trying to accomplish.
In fact D-jetronic and L-jetronic systems were some of the first generation Bosch "electronic" fuel injection computers installed in automobiles. There is a diagnostic unit which you can rent from Pelican Parts to test the functionality of your fuel injection system, but there are no "sensors" per-se to provide diagnostic feedback in the 914 engine. Regards,

My understanding is that D-Jet is not even a "digital" EFI system; the ECU is an analog "computer".
Of course, just about anything could be built, technically. Given enough time, money and skill, somebody could clearly build a D-Jet ECU probe/tester tool and interface it to a PC; but, unlike Motronic and other modern EFI systems, you sure wouldn't be able to tweak hundreds of different parameters, fuel mapping curves, ignition timing, etc etc. For $199 I can buy a PC interface for my Audi (Motronic8 I think) that can reprogram just about every friggen thing on the car, from the turbo boost to the power door locks. Wild.

D-Jetronic predates PC-based EFI testing. The ECU has both discrete (DTL) logic and analog circuits, you can see a full analysis of it at my website listed below.
Many testers were developed and marketed for D-Jetronic and can still be found at swap meets and on Ebay. There is a page on testers at my website. Since the ECU's are very reliable, most of the testing of the system can be done with a DMM, by disconnecting the harness from the ECU and probing at the plug. Instructions on the expected values are also at my web site. Testing of the MPS and ECU require specialized equipment. The VW1218 tester, available for rental from Pelican Parts, does comprehensive testing of both the MPS and the ECU. |

I am in San Jose too. Brad Anders site will tell you *eveything* you need to knwo to keep your FI running properly. Just ask more questions if you need furhter help. Be sure to also see the www.roadglue.com website. The 914 community in the Bay Area is alive and well...monthly breakfasts (in San Jose!) and regular events keep us pretty active.
