oil cooler
Engine rebuild and forgot something.
Replacing seals i remounted the oil cooler on my 74 2.0 with the three washers on the inside against the crankcase, but the seals didn't have a tight seal. Infact they are loose. So i left only one washer and put the other two on the outside of the cooler and the seals are much tighter avoiding a major oil leak. The Hanes book mentions washer (one) under the cooler and I'm not sure if that is a miss print for washers. So where is the correct place for these three washers so i can avoid any problems ? |

when i replaced the seals, i put the washers on the outside, the same way they had been on the cooler for the last 40 years.

The washers go between the nut and the cooler. Haynes is misleading about where those go...

With two sets of washers it seemed like the bigger washers were spacers, but I'll mount the cooler with the washers outside .
Thanks for the quick reply....... |
