924

I know this isn't the spot for this but, I picked up a 77 924 last weekend (couldn't pass up the price). It currently is not running. PO had played around but could not get it running, got feed up with it & sold it for what he spent on parts.

If I can't figure it out either, does anyone know what engines will bolt in with out any cuting or welding? Or just a little Just a plain old R & R? What cross references to this car? Or is there a list of what engines will exchange in this body?

I was thinking of a newer power plant? Very few P cars around here, but there are a bunch of it's cousins (Audi, Passat's ect) that I could aquire a doner engine from.

Ideas?

I posted this on the 924 forum & the only responce I got was to put a chev V8 in it.

Thanks,
Bruce

It's been a while since I thought about 924s, but if IIRC the belhousing shape is the same as the watercooled VW (rabbit) of the same vintage. This would give you the various 8 valve up to 2 liter and 16 valve motors from rabbit/scirocco/GTI/corrado to play with. Audi or VW fox flywheel to convert from transverse to longitudinal setup.

This is a guess, but would be the first thing I would look toward. A 16 valve Scirroco motor or G60 supercharged Caroddo motor might be fun!

Again, I may be completely wrong - but this is where I would start my search.
