914-6 oil tank w/oil level sender?

Is it possible to put a old style 911 oil level sender in a O.E. 914-6 oil tank?

Yes. I just removed one from my car. Car came to me with a hole cut in inner tank wall and sending unit soldered in. PO had to cut additional circular hole in chassis in order for oil tank to be installed. Sending unit protruded into engine compartment along side oil filler tube/oil filter. Frankly, I can't see that having a level guage is worth all the work/cost. They are not all that reliable anyway. My car came to me in pieces. I installed the tank and filled with oil. Within 30 minutes I had a 6 inch pool on the floor under the tank. The solder joint had cracked. Out came the tank(and 8 quarts of new oil). Went to radiator shop and had sender removed and a brass patch soldered in. I say, don't bother.
