I'm replacing vacuum lines on my '74 2.0 D-Jet, and am confused about one thing- on the vacuum advance canister on the distibutor there are two connections, a 5mm on the distibutor side that connects to the throttle body, and a 3.5 mm on the ooposite side that evidently in '73 connects to the TB as well, but on the '74 there is no connection to the TB. Should this be capped off or should it be left open.
Thanks in advance for all the help this board has given me, one day maybe I'll be able to help one of you.

Yup, it's capped off on a '74.

Anthony,
I don't believe you want to cap off the Advance side of the Vacuum cannister. It should have a short section of hose, but run it under out of site (for emission purposes), and do not cap it otherwise this will restrict the diaphram on retard side. The advance side of throttle body should be capped though. Had this problem on mine. The PO's mechanic had used a small metal tube that didn't fit snug into TB. Pulled this out and put a solid plug in it. Regards,
