Difference between 914 and 914-6 boot floor
Is there a big noticeable difference between the front boot floor of a 914 and a 914-6,on opening the lid would you instantly no that the floors were different
|
There is no difference between the early 914-4 and 914-6 trunk floors. Starting in (I think?) 73, there was a half-circle shaped reinforcement across the front of the trunk, and in 75 more bracing was added to accommodate the bumper shocks used in 75-76 914s.
You can rule out some front trunks as being original Six trunks in a number of ways, like the above. There are a couple of smaller differences that are not in the metal stampings (things like the windshield washer bottle being different with an electric pump, so no hose to the spare tire), but the biggest giveaway would be the VIN stamp on the fender. If it starts with "47" it's a -4 trunk, if it starts with "914" it's a Six trunk. --DD |
