HSR West pics

As many of you know I'm trying to ease my way back into the track event thing after about a year-long hiatus. Anyways, I went out to Willow Springs today to check out the HSR West group. It was their Fall Challenge weekend.

There were some really sweet cars out there, and some nice folks too. Overall it seems to be a well-run but not too formal or 'political' a group from what I've seen thus far. Basically just a bunch of people having a great time with their old race cars.

The 2-Liter Porsche Challenge race was a high point for me -- Wayne Baker in his 911 and Jim Patrick in his 914-6 were dicing back and forth the whole time. Some good passing action, and the top 4 cars stayed very close thru the whole race. Unfortunately John Rogers experienced a clutch cable/linkage failure and DNF'd, but it seemed field-fixable.

Here's a link to the (few) pics I shot before my camera crapped out.

If anybody is interested in vintage racing (as a driver or spectator), be sure to check out HSR West.

Yep, I was very impressed by that car as well as several of the others. Some of the cars in the 2-liter series (like JP's) are pretty insane. It is a fairly restrictive, production based series but obviously these guys are taking it to the limit.

Some things sure seem beyond the bounds of a vintage series, like the custom lowered rear floor on JP's car, but I guess HSR is not too uptight about things unless the class competitiveness is disrupted.

Ive seen this car at an alignment shop in escondido, along with another 93' 964 3.8 porsche (yellow). Does anyone know of Rodnok Motorsports or pictures/info on this 964?

Thanks
