Anyone have slivernit carpet in their cars
Has anyone ever had a carpet set made with the slivernit carpet material (found in late model and current cars). I'd like to know how it looks/blends with the 914's simple interior.
I've always had 914s with the loop style carpet. I've never seen a car in person with perlon carpeting. I know aftermarket sets are available in domestic pile, loop, and perlon. I called Original Fit Interiors and they can make a set with factory slivernit. Might add a little plushness to the interior. Just wondering... Thanks!

I thought sliverknit and perlon were the same. I had a 6 with original carpet. It was very much like 914 trunk carpet (if not the same). Once had a '68 911L which also had similar carpet. I replaced it with a kit made of something called sliverknit. All looked nearly the same to me. Maybe perlon is a bit more like "indoor-outdoor"carpet of 25 years ago. I like both better than loop.

According to Auto International, Perlon is the type of carpet used in the trunks of our cars.
Sliverknit is what's in current production model cars, like the Boxster and 911? http://www.autosintl.com/catalog/cat.html#16

John at Original Fit has made me a set of carpets using the #407 Charcoal, more of a loop than the Charcoal Perlon, which is like the trunk carpet. I have a sample sheet in front of me. I think the #1207 Charcoal is the Silverknit, no loop but it doe's have some plushness to it.
