Coronado CA Vintage Race Videos & Pics
Hey Chris, hope you read this quickly as I am FTP sending videos and pictures from this weekend's Vintage Speed Festival at Coronado CA. Lots of Trans-Am cars, in fact there were two groups. There was a real 911 RSR and a 911ST from Europe that looked really great. Enjoy the videos.

John - Yep, I heard that was a really event. I couldn't make it but hopefully next time.
I went to the PCA-Santa Barbara concours today, which was like 3 miles from my house. Great turnout but nothing really lit my wick, i.e. lots and lots of pretty cars but not a lot of really 'special' stuff. No race cars! I will post your pics and vids shortly as well as the pics I shot today. If anybody doesn't want to wait, go here for the full-size files: ftp://ftp.nosubstitute.org/jrrogers/

Good job on the videos guys. I looked at the first ones you posted and was getting excited to go out on the track. The last one at WSIR came out the best, very clear and could see everything really well. How fast were you going? Your car appeared to be very smooth running.

Not to speak for John, but in general most "normal" Porsches are doing somewhere between 115 and 135 at the end of the front straight, and also in the turn 7-8 area which is a long flat-out sweeper. Depends on the car and the driver of course...there is about a 45+ second spread in possible lap times at that track (i.e. comparing a 914 1.7 or Bugeye Sprite with a novice driver to an F1 or CART car with a pro driver).
I agree Bruce, watching all these videos that have been posted lately really makes me want to get back out there. 1 month left to go, but who's counting.
